Cactus Wren Chapter Welcomes You!
Cactus Wren Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was organized April 13, 1991. Our chapter takes its name from the Arizona state bird. It became the 23rd chapter of the Arizona Society and was created during the NSDAR Centennial Administration of Mrs. Eldred Martin Yochim President General, NSDAR, and of Mrs. James Earl Haynes, Jr. Arizona State Regent. Mrs. Mark L. Griffin, the chapter organizing regent 1990-1992. Chapter Daughters admitted during that time received the commemorative Centennial Certificate.
Cactus Wren celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2011. A Desert Willow was planted at Veterans Oasis Park and a commemorative marker was installed at the site. The tree is located next to the Cactus Wren Pavilion.
Membership in the DAR honors and preserves the legacy of your patriot ancestor. Over two hundred years ago, American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, through participation in the Society’s various programs and activities, you can continue this legacy by actively supporting historic preservation, promotion of education, and patriotic endeavors.
